Drain Cleaning & Clog Removal

A slow kitchen drain is usually grease and AZ hard-water scale closing the pipe down a little at a time. A whole-house backup is almost always the main line. We clear both, from a quick sink snake to hydro-jetting a sewer that's choked with roots. Then we run a camera down to make sure the line's actually clear, not just punched through. We'd rather find the real problem than guess at it.

What it costs: Flat-rate by drain type, so a kitchen line and a main line are not the same price and you know which you are getting before we start. Cabling is the base service. Hydro-jetting and camera inspection are separate line items, quoted only if the drain actually needs them. See typical drain cleaning pricing.

Signs you need drain cleaning

  • Multiple fixtures draining slowly at once (main-line issue)
  • Gurgling toilets when the washer or tub drains
  • Water backing up into a tub or floor drain
  • Recurring clogs in the same drain (scale or a belly in the line)

How we handle it

  1. Locate the blockage

We identify whether it's a branch line or the main before choosing a tool.

  2. Clear it

Cabling for soft clogs, hydro-jetting for grease and roots that snaking just bores a hole through.

  3. Camera-verify

We scope the line so you see it's fully clear, and catch any cracked or bellied pipe before it becomes a backup.

What to know about drain cleaning in Arizona

Chemical drain cleaners are the most common homeowner mistake, and in Arizona they're worse than useless. They make heat that can soften and warp PVC and ABS, they rarely clear a full clog (they just bore a hole through it that closes back up), and the leftover caustic sludge sits in your trap waiting to splash a plumber later. A snake or auger pulls the blockage out for real. For grease and soap-scale buildup that's narrowing a line, hydro-jetting scours the pipe wall back to full diameter the way chemicals never can.

Where a clog sits tells you how bad it is. A single slow sink or tub is almost always a local blockage in that fixture's trap or branch arm. Hair, grease, toothpaste, scale. But when several fixtures back up together, or the lowest drain in the house (often a shower or floor drain) gurgles and floods when you flush a toilet, the blockage is in the main line the whole house shares. That's a bigger problem. Stop running water, and get it scoped instead of snaked blind.

Phoenix kitchens have a specific enemy: grease and hard-water scale working together. Grease poured down a drain cools and congeals, and the dissolved minerals in 18-grain water build a rough scale on the pipe walls that grease then grabs onto, narrowing the line over the years until it chokes. Garbage disposals make it worse, sending fine food particles into that sticky mess. The real fix isn't just clearing today's clog. It's jetting out the buildup and changing what goes down the drain (no grease, no fibrous peels, run cold water).

Recurring clogs in the same drain are a clue people ignore. If a line clogs every few months no matter how careful you are, the problem usually isn't what you're putting down it. It's a defect in the pipe: a belly (low spot holding water and debris), a partial collapse, root intrusion at a joint, or scale that's permanently narrowed the line. Snaking it again and again just treats the symptom. A camera inspection finds the real cause, so you fix it once instead of paying for the same clog four times a year.

Drain Cleaning, frequently asked

Does boiling water actually clear a drain?
It can loosen fresh grease in a kitchen line, but it won't touch scale, roots, or a main-line clog. Boiling water can also crack porcelain or warp PVC. Read our guide before you try it.
Snaking vs. hydro-jetting?
Snaking punches a hole through a clog. Jetting scours the whole pipe wall clean. For grease and roots, jetting is what actually fixes it.
Are chemical drain cleaners safe to use?
No. They can warp plastic pipes with the heat, they rarely clear a clog all the way, and they leave caustic sludge sitting in the trap. Mechanical clearing with an auger or hydro-jetting actually pulls the blockage out without tearing up your pipes.
One drain is slow, is it a big problem?
Usually not. One slow fixture is almost always a clog right there in that trap or branch line. It gets serious when several fixtures back up together, or the lowest drain floods when you flush a toilet. That points to the main line.
What's the difference between snaking and hydro-jetting?
A snake or auger punches through and pulls out one specific blockage, which is fine for a hair clog or a single stoppage. Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the whole pipe wall clean of grease and scale, so you get the full diameter back and it won't clog right up again.
Why does the same drain keep clogging?
When the same spot clogs over and over, it's usually a pipe defect, not your habits. Could be a low spot (belly) holding debris, scale narrowing the line, a partial collapse, or roots getting in. A camera inspection finds the real cause so we can fix it for good.
What shouldn't I put down a Phoenix kitchen drain?
Grease and oils (they congeal and bind to the hard-water scale), fibrous scraps like celery and peels, and coffee grounds. Run cold water with the disposal and scrape plates into the trash so the line doesn't narrow down over time.
