Does boiling water actually clear a drain?
It can loosen fresh grease in a kitchen line, but it won't touch scale, roots, or a main-line clog. Boiling water can also crack porcelain or warp PVC. Read our guide before you try it.
Snaking vs. hydro-jetting?
Snaking punches a hole through a clog. Jetting scours the whole pipe wall clean. For grease and roots, jetting is what actually fixes it.
Are chemical drain cleaners safe to use?
No. They can warp plastic pipes with the heat, they rarely clear a clog all the way, and they leave caustic sludge sitting in the trap. Mechanical clearing with an auger or hydro-jetting actually pulls the blockage out without tearing up your pipes.
One drain is slow, is it a big problem?
Usually not. One slow fixture is almost always a clog right there in that trap or branch line. It gets serious when several fixtures back up together, or the lowest drain floods when you flush a toilet. That points to the main line.
What's the difference between snaking and hydro-jetting?
A snake or auger punches through and pulls out one specific blockage, which is fine for a hair clog or a single stoppage. Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the whole pipe wall clean of grease and scale, so you get the full diameter back and it won't clog right up again.
Why does the same drain keep clogging?
When the same spot clogs over and over, it's usually a pipe defect, not your habits. Could be a low spot (belly) holding debris, scale narrowing the line, a partial collapse, or roots getting in. A camera inspection finds the real cause so we can fix it for good.
What shouldn't I put down a Phoenix kitchen drain?
Grease and oils (they congeal and bind to the hard-water scale), fibrous scraps like celery and peels, and coffee grounds. Run cold water with the disposal and scrape plates into the trash so the line doesn't narrow down over time.
